GarageBand Basics - working with other audio samples If you want to work with other audio samples in Garageband, like you want to splice up your favourite songs or create some kind of remix. Here is a very rough intro to get you started... Basically it is browsing your itunes play lists, so this means you can't use music you bought at the iTunes music store, BUT you can use CDs you imported yourself.
It may take a little while for the song to be 'converted across' when you drop it into the tracks column.
The yellow edited bit, 'a wave form' can be selected. But you need to select it from the 'centre' line(along the line where the red arrow is pointing in the screenshot above.
Once you have made the duplicated track, call it something like 'my mix' . You can then paste the bit you have copied into this new track.
if you like what you hear you can then save the audio by going up to the share menu item...
if you choose send song to iTunes, it will be a big file size ( if it is like 3min song), it is good idea then to use itunes to convert it to AAC in the Advanced Menu of iTunes. if you choose Export song to Disk it will make it an AAC file a much smaller file you can then put on your iPod or email.
