Fashion may not
be influenced by art but rather art is influenced
by fashions.
Imagine a painter
painting a scene of people, in the days before
photography, the artist would have be recording
what the people were wearing at the time.
It is really only
in relatively modern times that art movements could
have had an influence on fashion.
So consider some
of the modern art movements as Impressionism,
Fauvism , Expressionism, Art Nouveau Movement, Art
Deco Movement, Cubism, Surrealism, Abstract Art
and Pop Art Movement . More info at Modern
Art Movements
So to what extent
would art influence fashion? It is likely that some of the more
unusual fashion designs may have been inspired by
art movements rather than the more common daily
fashions. There is also a limitation on what
techniques and fabrics that may have been around at
different periods of time.
But the important
thing is to consider is the word "extent" in other
words how popular or common is the fashion linked
to or inspired by the art.
|
For example , does this painting by
Monet influence the fashion of the time? Or when
people see this picture does a fashion designer
want to go out and create a similar fashion or
style?

Tip: Consider
looking at a particular artist
from a movement and then find
paintings of people, then check
out the fashion.
