Cat walk fashions: absurb creations dreamed up by faux designers that could be classified as art, or indication of where fashion is headed in the future?

27 July 2004
by Richard Conan-Davies

Definitely some cat walk creations are absurd and there is usually no real intention of these items being worn on a regular or routine basis. They definetly can be considered a form of art. But like all art it can be the basis of , or inspirations, for things that can actually be worn.

It could be thought that some fashion designs are just upside down. What is shown here could easily be part of skirt that would normally be draped around the legs.

Sometimes it is just the challenge of being able to create a garment or outfit to remain stable even if impractical. Perhaps it is like the Peacock feathers in the animal world.

It is not really likely that such items give an indication of where fashion is headed but rather it is a reflection of what is currently around.
