The sun seems to
actually be quite a bit more restless than it has
been for quite some time, well for about 100 years
or so. This is according to Swiss Astronomers at
the Insitute of Astronomy of the Surich Technical
University.
Dr Sami Solanki
who led the study looking at historical records
ranging from sunspot records back to the year 1610
and compared this with radioactive isotopes in ice
that change depending on the activity of the
sun.
His team
discovered that there has been a steady increase in
the number of sun spots especially over the last
60 years.
It is thought
that this sun activity may be acting togther with
human fossil fuel burning to increase the average
temperature on Earth. The exact way this happens is
not entirely certain.
