Psychology of memories and UFO abductions

22 June 2004
by Richard Conan-Davies

Psychologists from Harvard University have compared the physical responses of people with memories of abductions by UFOs with people who had no such experiences.

What they found is that just because a person reacts in a frightened way to hearing a story about about abductions doesn't mean they experienced a real event but just that the memory was traumatic.

The research did not deal with whether those people who claim abductions were adbucted but rather how they felt or what responses they had to hearing traumtic stories. People who had not had such memories did not respond in a frightened way.

Dr. Richard McNally of Harvard University led the research team.

For some people even being told about a UFO abduction can set their heart racing.
