Have a cup of tea to keep your memories

A recent research article published in the journal Phytotherapy Research suggests that cups of tea may be helpful in preventing age related memory break down in the brain.

The work carried out by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK led by Dr Edward Okello looked at how the active parts in tea act to inhibit certain enzymes ( one called acetylcholinesterase ) that are thought to be part of the process in dementia.

The researchers point out that this effect may be useful only assuming that these active components of tea actually can get to the brain. This suggests that more than just one cup of tea is probably needed.

several cups of tea, both black and green teas, have active components that reduce brain enzyme activity that can cause memory loss in old age.
