"Poly" meals help your health

17 December 2004
by Richard Conan-Davies

Increasing life expectancy for men by 6.5 years and women by 5 years may be just a matter of eating daily portions of wine, fish(or 4 times a week) dark chocolate, fruits and vegetables, almonds and garlic.

This polymeal was developed by a team from Monash university and a group from the Netherlands studying scienctific literature over the years that looked at the health benefits of different food groups. It was in response to the development of a Polypill that reduces your risk of health problems. So they thought a polymeal might do the trick instead.

Dr Anna Peeters , who led the study explained to Monash Univeristy that "The polymeal is an effective, non-pharmacological, safe, cheap and tasty alternative to the polypill that will reduce cardiovascular morbidity and increase life expectancy in the general population,"

Vegies, fish, and chocolate are amoung some of the portions of food to eat on a daily basis for better health
