Magnetic therapy bracelet do have a pain relief effect

Magnetic therapy for treating the pain of osteoarthristis has not been well accepted by the medical world but this may change after a recent study published by the British Medical Journal.

The new study did a randomised controlled trial of patients of 194 men and women aged 45-80 years with osteoarthritis of the hip or knee. Some of the people wore a bracelet with the same dimensions but had no magent and some had the magnet.

The study led by Tim Harlow of College Surgery, Cullompton, Devon, UK showed that Osteoarthritis pain from the the hip and knee was reduced when magnetic bracelets were used. But the research team were not certain if this response was due to the magnets or if it was just a placebo effect. This is partly because the person wearing the magnets could sometimes easily detect the magnetic effects by other clues and be aware, subconciously, that they have the magnetic bracelets.

Regardless of placebo effect or not magnetic bracelets do seem to be a worthwhile and effective pain releif treatment for arthritis suffers.
