The latest images
from the Hubble Space telesccope have revelaed the
light echoes of a supernova from 3 years
ago.
This spectacular
image shows the remains of a star that exploded
violently which shattered a whole star leaving
rings of debris which are now lit up by the remains
of the dim red star in the centre.
Super novas like
these are important part of creating new elements,
particularly heavy elements like gold and even
uranium. The shock wave may also be important for
helping other stars and planetary systems to form
over millions of years.
