The Australian of the Year celebrated on Australia Day 26th of January was Dr.Fiona Wood. Her work in research and assisting burns victims using a novel method of spray-on skin has been an almost revolution to helping save many lives. She is particularly noted for her work in helping Bali bombing victims. She is the Director of the Western Australian Burns Service and co-founder and Director of Clinical Cell Culture Limited. This company produces the CellSpray product which also has uses in reconstructive plastic surgery or other kinds of skin damage. She is also a consultant Plastic Surgeon to both Royal Perth and Princess Margaret Hospitals and a member of the Board of Governors for the McComb Research Foundation. |
