Insomnia generally occurs more often with women than men but it seems that the better educated the woman is the better her ability to sleep is. But unluckily for men the more educated they are the worse their sleep could be. This is according to recent research from Taiwan presented in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.
The research surveyed some 40,000 people aged 15 and older and considered marital status, employment/occupation, educational attainment, and household income, the number of family members under the age of 15. Insomnia was assessed using criteria developed by the World Health Organization, and scored on a scale of 1 to 5.
For those who were older, insomnia tended to be more common including those divorced/separated, had low educational attainment, poor health, or low income. Increased rates of insomnia were also noticed in Children living at home.
