An unmanned airborne vehicle (UAV) which will track and monitor bushfires, has been developed by the University of South Australia. This newly invented device will be responsible for relaying vital environmental information and pictures in real time via satellite.
This remarkable vehicle is brimming with cameras, computers, and global positioning equipment and has the capacity to survey information on the position of the fire front, wind direction, temperature, density of the smoke, and the intensity of the fire, with pin point accuracy.
Head researcher, Dr. Grant Wrigley explained that “To be working on the kind of technologies that have an immediate impact in the community is brilliant.”
