| The shadow of the moon will race across the face of Africa and end at the Border of Mongolia.
This is solar eclipse visible to millions of people along its path and will occur starting about 9.30am. It is set to be particularly spectacular for Africa as it is a total eclipse.
The greatest part of the eclipse is due to occur at the border between Chad and Libya at about 10:10am UT.
In ancient times eclipses would have seemed very forboding. Even today in some areas such an event has its dangers. The main danger is looking at the eclipse without protecting your eyes can be quite dangerous as the sky becomes dark your pupils dilate but the san from the edge of the eclipse is still very bright.
