What is the point of a 7 megapixel camera phone?

It seems it is Samsung week here for some reason. Well what is the point of their latest release? a 7 megapixel camera in a mobile phone. It seems quite extreme given that for most purposes a 3 mega pixel camera is quite sufficient. What sort of lense could a mobile phone have? Well to be fair such a device may have a specialised value somewhere, perhaps insurance investigators doing detailed work.
