.travel and .jobs officially recognised

12 April 2005
by Richard Conan-Davies

Icann (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) has allowed the registration of the top level domain of .travel and .jobs.

This means people or companies can register web domains like www.USA.travel or www.europe.travel.

It does seem that with out the traditional .com or .org endings people may still become confused.

A site like www.travel.com or www.jobs.com is likely to be still a little more memorable and marketable. But luckily with search engines it could still have some use in the text ads that we see everyday.

Will companies take up www.sunny.travel ?
Would you remember the name www.tech.jobs as site for your next computer job?
