The
consumer electronics show is a yearly event that is
sponsored and managed by the Consumer Electronics
Association. The event is taking place from 5th to
the 8th of January 2006 across various sites in Las
Vegas, USA. The show is regarded as setting the
stage for electronics for the entire year.
The International
CES is not open to the general public, and all
attendees must be in the consumer electronics
industry to attend the show.
It covers
consumer electronic categories from Bluetooth
Technology, Digital Hollywood, Home/Personal
Healthcare, Photography/Digital Imaging to name
just a few. Over 130,000 people attended last year
and covered some 1.5 million sq ft (139,354 square
metres) of exhibition area. The show was the first
to exhibit some now familiar items such as
Videocassette Recorder (VCR), 1970, Compact Disc
Player, 1981 and High Definition Television (HDTV),
1998.
