Politics is generally regarded as the art of arguing about the way in which rules or laws in a society should be.  A political view is a view about how a society or group of people should be treated or how wealth (economics) resources, or technology, is generated and or distributed.

It is about how politics uses legal tools and also advertising tools to promote or convince their positions in order to gain agreement from another group or person.

The word politics comes from the Greek word politikos, meaning "of, for, or relating to citizens".  So in this sense it is about how to talk to people to convince a group to agree with a particular way of distributing or organising resources that are to be used by the citizens of an area.

Modern politics is roughly divided a spectrum of 'wings':

  • right wing, (conservative)
  • centre right,
  • centre,
  • centre left,
  • left. (liberal)

This spectrum can apply to political parties, individual politicians, and or policies of parties.

The overall politics (its political leanings) of particular countries depends largely on the history of the country. In particular how exposed those countries are to wars, other social economic strains, environmental or resource availabilities with in the country.

What wikipedia says:

Politics (from Greek: πολιτικός politikos, meaning "of, for, or relating to citizens") is the practice and theory of influencing other people on a civic or individual level.

More narrowly, it refers to achieving and exercising positions of governance — organized control over a human community, particularly a state.

A variety of methods are employed in politics, which include promoting one's own political views among people, negotiation with other political subjects, making laws, and exercising force, including warfare against adversaries.

Politics is exercised on a wide range of social levels, from clans and tribes of traditional societies, through modern local governments, companies and institutions up to sovereign states, to the international level.

A political system is a framework which defines acceptable political methods within a given society. History of political thought can be traced back to early antiquity, with seminal works such as Plato's Republic, Aristotle's Politics and the works of Confucius.

Modern political discourse focuses on democracy and the relationship between people and politics. It is thought of as the way we choose government officials and make decisions about public policy.
